Who I used to be
Who I Used to Be explores the expansion of imagination and the incredible distance we travel throughout our lives. The painting depicts a robot at an easel, carefully filling in a paint-by-numbers portrait of its former human self. This mechanical reconstruction of identity reflects the long journey from our beginnings to where we eventually end up. With its visible gears and circuitry, the robot uses the canvas to map the history of its own mind. The title, painted directly onto the bottom of the work, highlights that our past remains an essential part of the picture no matter how far our imagination takes us
